Me, myself and I

nz_eco_familyWelcome along for the wild and fun ride that is NZ Ecochick (aka my life). NZ Ecochick is about our family’s journey to making the greenest choices on our urban homestead.

I’m a cloth using, plastic reducing, glass loving stay at home mama to two wonderful boys. My two angels keep me entertained and on my toes.

While my boys have been busy growing into school aged children I have retrained as a nutritionist and yoga teacher. I strongly believe in a wholebody approach to health and wellness. I’ve even written my first book; Nutrition in pregnancy, a wholefood approach.

I love frugal living, gardening, crafting, diy, organising and cooking from scratch especially with fresh home grown produce.

I get a total kick out of growing our own food, collecting fresh eggs from our free range chickens and quails and living the good life.

Welcome one and all. Grab a coffee and cake and stay a while.

Do you have any water kefir grains to give away? I saw on your website that you had milk grains, but I already have those and am wanting to try water kefir.

I look forward to hearing from you.

    Dear Madeleine (“& Hubbie!”)

PLEASE! I need detailed info/guidance please, concerning Sourdough Bread baking – in my “old – 4-5 yrs” Panasonic Breadmaker. I have seen and devoured your post & recipe on this matter but, I’m soon 90 and getting a bit slow on the ‘uptake’

I live up near Opononi, and already have been given a slightly sour-smelling sourdough starter (which has bubbles showing on top!)

Perhaps best if I outline what I THINK I need to do – then you can correct/add/criticize after? …
So, around 9pm-ish, I’ll follow exactly the recipe given, and presume it’s OK if I mix those ingredients using the Panasonic’s “Dough mix setting, and checking/(adding) amounts until the “porridgy” consistency is attained – then switch over to the ‘French Bread’ setting; and put Timer on to start at (?) say 10 hrs later?? [I’ll check on the “rise” in the breadpan first – in case of ‘overflow’! AM I CORRECT??

Lastly, I’m just a ‘bit hazy’ as to what’s what I must do with this ‘morning pre-bake’!

    Please assist me!
    Sincerely, Glynne Adams
