Benzoin ointment

Gabriel had really bad nappy rash after using some wind drops (grr) so a girlfriend lent me a really great cream made by a pharmacy. I looked at the ingredients and thought well I can make that. I rang the pharmacy and they were super rude and very secretive about their recipe so I went ahead and made my own. Theirs had paraffin in it so I decided to use coconut oil instead.

Here is NZ Ecochick’s very own Benzoin ointment:
90g Beeswax
1/5 cup olive oil
1.5 cup coconut oil
1 T Lanolin
20ml Benzoin tincture

Melt the beeswax. Then mix in the olive oil, coconut oil and lanolin. Once the mixture is set add the benzoin tincture and stir it through. Scoop out into jars.
Benzoin tincture is used as a treatment for damaged skin. Therefore this ointment can be used on damaged skin such as nappy rash, chapped lips or dry skin.
