I've been meaning to make a growth chart for about the last year but I couldn't decide what I wanted to do. So with John turning 2 I decided it was time to make a permanent record of his height. I just wish I had done this a year ago!
Mr Ecochick cut up a MDF board we had in the garage. I used some amazing fabric that I bought ages ago to make a duvet cover for John. I just love this print. I still have plenty left over to make a duvet cover too.
I sprayed the board and the fabric with a spray adhesive and stuck the fabric to the board. I love spray adhesive it's so fast and easy!
I printed out JOHN and cut around the letters. I pinned the letters to a pillowslip that I bought for the fabric. Buying second hand sheets are a great way to cheaply buy a lot of fabric.I used the spray adhesive again to stick John's name to the board. I didn't think the letters stuck out enough so I went around the edge of them with a black permanent marker.
Here's the finished growth chart. I just love it. I drilled two holes in the top to loop a ribbon through. Once I was finished I hung the chart on the wall and measured little John.
Once John's measurement was on the board I painted his hand with black paint and pressed it on the board. I just love hand prints. I have so many different hand prints of John's I love seeing how he has grown. I just wish I had done this chart a year ago!!! How do you record your children's growth?
