We go through quite a bit of milk here with John still
having morning and night feeds.
So I'm all for saving ourselves some money!
Recently I had someone inform me that you can
use milk powder instead of buying bottled milk. Wow so simple!!
Crazy right why didn't I think of that?!
Buying milk powder instead of bottled milk works out to be
half the price per litre!!
Basically to make up the milk powder add 10% less than the pack says to add
(ie: if the pack says add 100gms of powder add 90gms).
Add the milk powder into the bottom of your chosen glass bottle
then add water and shake, shake, shake!
Put the milk in the fridge to stand for 12 hours before use.
The milk tastes just like store bought bottled milk! No after taste at all.
I got some cool 1L bottles from my mum that I just love.
I coloured 3 of the lids dark blue for whole milk
and left the other one green for skim milk.
I love opening my fridge and seeing the glass bottles in there
rather than plastic ones.
The great thing about glass is that you can reuse it again and again!!
No more plastic to cart home and have to recycle!
The milk powder you buy in the supermarket comes in foil bags which sadly can't be recycled so I'm trying to find some recyclable ones.
Does anyone else use powdered milk?
