Christmas ideas

I love Christmas time! I love the sights, the smells. I love the Christmas shop at Kirkcaldie & Stains! I love Christmas carols, Christmas trees, Christmas decorations and I love homemade gifts. Homemade gifts are so special. Today I’ve got a list of very cool (mostly easy) and cheap homemade gifts that you can make and give away. Loads of these ideas are made in a recycled jar! So friends and family don’t be surprised if some of these things end up at your home round Christmas time!  

I love my spoon herb labels. I bought some old spoons off trade me and gave them the bash! Tie some seed packets to the label, or buy a fruit tree and a great gift for all. 

 

Yummy perfect for that child in your life (be they young or old). Who wouldn’t want their own personal rainbow?!

 

These infusing sugars not only look pretty but will taste great in coffee or cakes. You could also make vanilla sugar.

 

Love this art station. What child wouldn’t want one of these in their bedroom or playroom. I am so going to make John one when he’s a bit bigger.

 

Cowgirl cookies! Need I say more! These look pretty and I’m sure will taste very nice. Don’t forget to print out the instructions to add to the jar. You could also change the colour of the m and ms or you could put a gingerbread mixture in here and tie a gingerbread cookie cutter to the lid.

 

Mint and or lemon balm in pots for the pesky flies and mozzies!

Hanging baskets or container planters filled with anything you like; tomatoes, strawberries, herbs or buy a few different seeds and put them in an envelope give with a container; the recipient will be delighted with a mystery garden.

 

Very cool and easy to make wall clock. You could use teacups instead or buttons or anything you like really.

The much loved chalk mat! These are easy to make, look fantastic and kids love them. I bought some road fabric to make one for John. One side will be a chalk mat and the other side John will be able to drive little cars on. So add some chalk and a little car and you have two toys in one. 

 

Vanilla essence; easy, cheap and looks great. Just remember if you want to make this it takes about 6 weeks to do its thing so now would be a good time to make some.

Homemade jam of any kind. I love peach jam; so yummy and easy to make. You could also put the scone mixture in a jar when you give the jam.

Fantasticly yummy brownie in a jar! Looks great. I think you could pretty much put any recipe in a jar and give it as a gift. 

Lovely easy salt scrub. Or my favourite circulation bath; put in a jar; 1 cup Epson salts, lavender oil (or whatever scent you like) if you want to colour the salt just add some food colouring. Throw the whole lot in a bath. Heavenly!  

I love finger puppets and making your own would be so much fun or if the child was a little older you could cut all the piece out for them and they could assemble the finger puppets themselves - like a little puppet kit.
